We had a very busy week! Many students participated in the Winter Concert. All of their hard work paid off and it was fantastic! We had an odd schedule because of the Winter Concert, but we got a lot done, too! In Math, we continued learning about fractions - specifically adding and subtracting them. We continued working on our Realistic Fiction pieces during Writing. We're almost done with them! In Reading, we started reading Biographies. As a shared text, we're reading a biography about John F. Kennedy. We continued to learn about energy in Science. In Social Studies, we started learning about the Native Americans. We finished our Read-Aloud, Jackie and Me by Dan Gutman, and we started reading Where the Mountain Meets the Moon, a book that's a narrative interwoven with myths and legends.
On Friday, we celebrated our Winter Party. We made snow globes of snowmen. We drank "melted snow" and ate cheese sticks and popcorn. We played games such as "wrap the snowman." We had a lot of fun!
